Pakistan beat Canada by 7 wickets on Tuesday (11th June) to open their accounts of ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024. Pakistan were decent with the ball and all the pacers ended up picking up atleast one wicket. Top class bowling and assistance from the pitch helped Pakistan reduce Canada to a par total of 106. In reply, run a ball knock from captain Babar Azam and Wk-batter Rizwan's gritty fifty helped Pakistan chase down the meagre total.

Rizwan scored a gutsy 53* off 53 to steer the ship for Pakistan. 
Being asked to bat first, Mohammad Amir knocked over Navneet Dhaliwal for cheaply and then Shaheen had Pargat Singh and the wickets were tumbling infront of a quality Pakistani attack.

Aaron Johnson's 44 ball 52 was the only innings that seemed to have clue. He played a brilliant innings to keep the scoreboard ticking on a tough deck. But he needed some support from the other end but he never got it as wickets were falling at regular intervals.
With the help of Johnson's 52 Canada posted 106 on the board.

In reply, opener Saim Ayub fell cheaply to Dillon Heyligar. Skipper Babar Azam joined hands with Mohammad Rizwan to strung a partnership together and that killed the chase for Canada.

The duo motored their way to the target and piled up 63 runs off 62 balls together where 107 was the target. Babar fell on scoring 33 off 33, while Rizwan was unbeaten on 53* off 53 balls which helped Pakistan get their maiden victory of the tournament.
