Hero of West Indies' two-wicket win against India in Monday's second T20 International, wicket-keeper batter Nicholas Pooran, has been fined 15 percent of his match money for publicly criticizing the umpires. Besides, a demerit point has been added next to his name.

Pooran violated Article 2.7 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to public criticism in relation to an incident occurring in an international match.

The incident happened during the fourth over of India's innings. He got into an argument with the umpire over a review.

There was no need for a formal hearing after Pooran admitted to the offence and accepted the sanctions levelled by on-field umpires Leslie Reifer and Nigel Duguid, third umpire Gregory Brathwaite and fourth official Patrick Gustard and proposed by match referee Richie Richardson.

Pooran's record has also been marked with one minus point. This was his first offense in the past 24 months.

Level 1 violations come with a minimum punishment of one or two demerit points and a maximum penalty of 50% of the match fee being taken away from the player.

Host West Indies chased down India's target of 153 runs with two wickets in hand in Guyana. Nicholas Pooran's innings of 67 laid the foundation for victory, but Yuzvendra Chahal kept India in the match with great bowling. West Indies won thanks to Akeal Hosein's 10-ball 16 and Alzarri Joseph's 8-ball 10-run innings.

The two teams will meet in the third T20 match of the series on Tuesday. The hosts are leading 2-0 after winning the first two matches.
