As Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) gear up for their IPL 2025 clash against Delhi Capitals (DC) on March 30, the team’s spin bowling coach Muttiah Muralitharan has set his sights on a historic milestone. The Sri Lankan legend expressed confidence that SRH could become the first team in IPL history to score 300 runs in an innings a feat that has never been achieved before.

Talking ahead of the upcoming match Muralitharan emphasized SRH's aggressive batting style which he believes could soon push them to cross the elusive 300-run mark. "The press has made 300 a target for us, but we’ve come close—286, 287. Two batters just need to come really good, and we could reach it. Nothing is impossible in cricket," Muralitharan said.

Reflecting on SRH's previous games, Muralitharan was upbeat despite recent setbacks."We can’t win every match. Winning and losing is part of the game, but we are confident we’ll bounce back," he said.

The team was particularly unlucky against Lucknow Super Giants, where Nicholas Pooran played a match-winning knock for the opposition. “We were unlucky against Lucknow Super Giants in the first innings. Then, Pooran (Nicholas) played one of the best innings for them. These things happen.” Muralitharan added.

The spin legend was quick to highlight SRH's strengths, especially their world-class bowling attack.“We have a world-class bowling attack with some of the lead performers in the IPL in the last two seasons, with the likes of Mohammed Shami and Harshal Patel. We have leg-spinner Adam Zampa and the captain, Cummins, who is a great bowler,” he noted.
