Mohammedan Sporting Club put in a professional all-round display to clinch a 74-run victory over Agrani Bank Cricket Club in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPL) 2025, with veteran Mushfiqur Rahim delivering a match-winning knock.
At BKSP Ground No. 3, Agrani Bank won the toss and opted to field first. Mohammedan made full use of the opportunity to set a competitive total, scoring 287 runs for 7 wickets in their allotted 50 overs.
Mushfiqur Rahim once again proved why he's considered one of Bangladesh’s most reliable batters, finishing unbeaten on 75 off just 57 balls. He came in during the middle overs and accelerated brilliantly in the death overs to push Mohammedan toward a strong finish.
Earlier, Mahidul Islam Ankon gave the innings a solid base with a patient 64 off 83 balls. Skipper Towhid Hridoy added 42 runs from 61 balls, while opener Rony Talukdar chipped in with a handy 46 off 49 deliveries.
Arif Ahmed took three wickets to lead Agrani Bank's bowling attack, but the rest of the attack had a hard time keeping the runs down.
Agrani Bank's response got off to a terrible start when they lost both openers with only 11 runs scored. From there, Amite Hasan tried to keep the game going while wickets kept falling at the other end. He was a lone fighter and earned his hundred by getting 105 runs off of 123 balls.
Even though Amite put in a great effort, Agrani Bank were bowled out for 213 runs in 45.3 overs, which was a long way short of the goal.
Both Ebadot Hossain and Mehidy Hasan Miraz were great with the ball for Mohammedan. They each took three wickets and kept the pressure on the other team throughout the game.
