A few days ago, Al-Amin Hossain held the record for most runs with the ball in one innings in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Musfik Hasan released Al-Amin from that unwanted record within two weeks.
Monday was a day to forget for the right-arm pacer. Musfik Hasan took 1 wicket conceding 72 runs in 4 overs against Rangpur Riders in the first qualifier match of BPL at Mirpur. He averaged 18 runs per over. This is the most expensive bowling figure in BPL. Al-Amin Hossain of Chattogram Challengers set the record for the highest figure in BPL conceding 69 runs in 4 overs against Comilla Victorians in this event. That record didn't last long because of 21-year-old Musfik.
Musfik was first brought into the attack in the seventh over. He was hit for a four and a six in that over, giving 15 runs. In the 13th over, James Neesham hit three two fours and Nicholas Pooran hit a four and a six. He got the wicket of Nicholas Pooran in the last ball of that over. Then in the 18th over he gave 10 more runs in the third over of the spell.
The last over of the innings and spell was the most expensive. Neesham ran rampant on him. There were three sixes and two fours in that over of 27 runs. A four came on a no-ball.
Despite having a bad day, at the end of the day, Musfik got a taste of victory thanks to the batting of Towhid Hridoy and Litton Das. Comilla Victorians defeated Rangpur Riders by 6 wickets and reached the final. Who will face Comilla in Friday's final will be decided by the second qualifier between Rangpur Riders and Fortune Barishal on February 28.
