The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday appointed former cricketer Mohammad Hafeez as the director of cricket.

Former pacer and current interim sports minister of Punjab Wahab Riaz has been appointed as the chief selector of the Pakistan cricket team.

Former all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez has been appointed as the head coach and team director of the Pakistan cricket team by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Hafeez will be the national team's head coach on their tour of Australia as PCB has decided to give recent coach Grant Bradburn and technical director Mickey Arthur "other" roles.

The 2009 T20 World Cup-winning captain Younis Khan, Wahab Riaz, Mohammad Hafeez and Sohail Tanvir were among those who met Ashraf at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on November 14.

The former all-rounder replaced Mickey Arthur a few days after the national team's elimination from the 2023 World Cup.

The board said in a statement it had changed the portfolio of the entire coaching staff, including director of cricket Mickey Arthur.

"All coaches will continue to work at the National Cricket Academy while PCB will announce the new coaching team for the upcoming series in Australia and New Zealand in due course," it added.

Meanwhile, former pacer Wahab Riaz has been appointed as the chief selector, a post that fell vacant after Inzamaul Haq resigned from the post over alleged conflict of interest.

The PCB has appointed Sohail Tanveer as the head of the youth selection team.
