Another season of BPL is knocking at the door. This time again South Africa's franchise tournament SA20 and United Arab Emirates' franchise league ILT20 will run closely together with the BPL. As a result, many famous cricketers will decide to choose one of the other two leagues instead of BPL. Pakistan pacer Amir has also opted for ILT20 over BPL. Amir was supposed to play for Fortune Barishal in this year's BPL. However, he changed his mind at the last moment and decided to play for the ILT20 team Desert Vipers. Barishal took Sri Lankan Nuwan Thushara in his place. After playing SA20, Thushara will be available to play in BPL.
Amir's total number of wickets in T20 cricket is 303. Amir played for Jamaica Tallawahs in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) in September last year. He became the third-highest wicket-taker there. Besides, Amir took five wickets at an economy rate of 7.85 for the New York Strikers in the Abu Dhabi T10 League and won the title. Amir, who played for Karachi Kings in the last edition of PSL, was the joint-highest wicket-taker of the edition along with Imad Wasim.
The second season of ILT20 will be held on January 19. Amir's team Desert Vipers' first match is in Dubai on January 21, against Abu Dhabi Knight Riders.
