Mahmudullah's all-round heroics down Sheikh Jamal

In a clash between two heavyweight teams of Dhaka Premier League (DPL), Gazi Group Cricketers has beaten Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club by 7 wickets in day’s second of three matches at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.

Two openers of Sheikh Jamal-

started well again after losing the toss. They posted 50 plus opening partnership in two consecutive matches. But they again failed to convert their good start into a big one as both the openers got out before half-century. Shykat was the first one to go who scored 33 runs off 30 balls hitting 3 fours and 2 sixes. All-rounder
got the breakthrough wicket at Sheikh Jamal’s 69 runs on the scorecard.
After that, Ashraful and
were looking good but spinner Ariful Haque took the wicket of the veteran batsman Ashraful and broke the 30-run partnership. Ashraful scored 41 runs off 35 balls. He struck 4 over boundaries. Then, no one was able to play any significant innings but the openers contribution gave Sheikh Jamal a fighting total of 151 runs. Captain
and pacer
both took 2 wickets for Gazi Group.
Openers Soumya and Shahadat Hossain got out early in chasing the target of 152 runs. Both scored 13 runs off 11 balls. But two veterans-
and Mahmudullah put on a great 97–run partnership in third wicket where both picked up their half-century which gave Gazi Group an easy win of 7 wickets. Mahmudullah was instrumental in batting too as he was unbeaten on 62 runs off 51 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes. While Mominul scored 54 runs off 36 balls hitting 8 fours. Mohammad Enamul took 2 wickets for Sheikh Jamal.
