Kirsten rejects India's head coach position

The Board of Control of Cricket In India (BCCI) had offered former South African batsman and World Cup winning coach of India, Gary Kirsten to be India's next head coach, but the South African declined the offer. [বাংলায় পড়ুন: ভারতকে না করলেন কারস্টেন] Anil Kumble resigned from the head coach's position under dubious circumstances. His debacle with India's captain Virat Kohli has sparked controversy in the cricket world. Kohli and the senior players of India were against Kumble's strict methods and wanted him to resign. Former Indian players were shocked at this and were very vocal in support of Kumble. Now The Cricket Advisory Committee(CAC) and the BCCI are trying to bring in the best man for the coach's job to calm down an unsettled dressing room. The BCCI had invited applications for the head coach position. Virender Sehwag, Tom Moody, Lalchand Rajput, Dodda Ganesh and former coach of Bangladesh Richard Pybus applied for the vacancy. But BCCI wanted former India coach Gary Kirsten to take the post.The board approached the South African cricketer formally, but Gary Kirsten did not seem interested in the job and the left-hander rejected the offer. Kirsten managed the Indian team from the year of 2008 to 2011 where he combined with then skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni to lead India to their second World Cup triumph in the ICC World Cup 2011. After a highly successful tenure with India Kirsten later went on to manage his homeland, South Africa. However, he did not stay there for long because of personal reasons.
