MI Cape Town captain Rashid Khan will miss the next edition of South Africa's franchise tournament SA20. He has been ruled out due to a back injury. Kieron Pollard has been given the captaincy instead.

Rashid is still recovering from a back injury. Due to injury, he could not play in Afghanistan's last T20I series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and did not play in the Big Bash League (BBL) either. Even if he’s in the squad for the India series, his chances of playing are very slim. This is the first time Pollard is going to play in SA20. As time drew to a close, Pollard was replaced by Nicholas Pooran as the captain of MI Emirates, the same franchise team in the ILT20. Pollard can join the ILT20 at the end of the SA20 game.

A few days ago Pollard played for New York Strikers in the Abu Dhabi T10 League. New York lost to Deccan Gladiators in the final match of the tournament. Besides, Pollard played in the same team Trinbago Knight Riders with Nicholas Pooran in the CPL. However, both teams are different in SA20. Durban Super Giants have roped in Pooran as a wildcard cricketer. Pooran is scheduled to play 3 SA20 matches for Durban before the ILT20.

SA20 will run from January 10 to February 10, ILT20 will run from January 19 to February 17. New Zealand's Super Smash and Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) will also be played at the same time.
