Former Bangladesh national cricket team coach Shane John Jurgensen has been appointed as the coach of Rangpur Riders for the third season of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Officials of the Riders confirmed the news today.
Jurgensen played in Australian domestic cricket as medium pace bowler although he failed to manage a place in the respective national team.
After his retirement from cricket he took coaching as a profession. Jurgensen joined as the bowling coach for Bangladesh national side in October 2011. Before that, he also worked as a bowling coach for New Zealand in-between 2008 to 2010.
In October 2012, Jurgensen received a sudden opportunity to become the interim head coach of Bangladesh team when the then national team coach Richard Pybus had resigned from his post.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) had appointed him as a permanent head coach in February, 2013 and he worked till April 2014. Rangpur Riders will start their journey from 22nd November as they will face Chittagong Vikings in the opening day of the BPL season three. It is the second participation for the franchise in BPL.
