Renowned fast bowler Junaid Khan has responded to a recent comment by Imam-ul-Haq about Iftikhar Ahmed and Mohammad Haris during the New Zealand Series.
Pakistani fast bowler Junaid Khan criticized Imam ul Haq for expressing unnecessary opinions during the recently concluded New Zealand ODI series.
According to Junaid Khan, Imam, who was not part of the T20 World Cup squad, sat on TV and shared his analysis. He also criticized the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for allowing such behavior.
Junaid Khan explained that Imam recently commented on the inclusion of Iftikhar and Haris, which is not appropriate for the current player as he is neither a selector nor a captain.
"When Imam wasn't part of the 2022 T20 World Cup squad, he was always on TV sharing his analysis, which I think is wrong," Junaid Khan noted.
Earlier, at the post-match presentation in Karachi last week, Imam was asked if Pakistan needed Iftikhar Ahmed and Mohammad Haris in the center line to boost clout in the remaining two games of the New Zealand series.
"If I'm being honest I don't think so because we don't have time for experiments and with Agha Salman, Shadab Khan and Mohammad Nawaz we have enough power hitting in our ranks." We just have to give them trust. "Sometimes it's very different to finish fifth or sixth and only play six or seven overs," Imam had said.
“We could have given Haris and Iftikhar a chance if we had had more games. That's what I think. Babar might think differently. We only have two games left so we need to go into a big tournament after giving our players full confidence," he added.
