England have scored 302-7 after the day 1 in Ranchi test. Joe Root's 31st test hundred propelled England towards 300 and helped them go unscathed after the day.

After winning the toss, England chose to bat first. Coming out to bat, the opening stand gave them 47 runs to start before debutant Akash Deep removed Ben Duckett. Zak Crawley scored a fluent 42 off 42 balls before getting knocked over by Akash Deep. In that over he trapped Ollie Pope for lbw and England were crumbling on 57-3.

Joe Root and Bairstow then stitched a partnership of 52 runs before Ravichandran Ashwin broke the stand by removing Bairstow. Joe Root didn’t stop. He found his groove back and hole out a partnership with Ben Foakes, which was worth of 113 runs.

Ben Foakes got out, 3 shy of his fifty to Siraj. However, Joe Root notched up his 31st test hundred in the meantime. At the backend of the day, Ollie Robinson joined the party with his unbeaten 31* off 60 deliveries and England finished their day being 302-7.
