India Women registered a dominating victory over Bangladesh Women as they've 120 run victory and squared the series by 1-1 on Wednesday (19th July) at Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Dhaka.
Earlier the day, Bangladesh Women won the toss and they opted to field first. Coming out to bowl Marufa Akter again gave Bangladesh a firing start as he rattled down the stumps of opener Priya Punia. Yastika Bhatia too had a barren run as she scored only 15 off 23. Opener Smriti Mandhana's stumps were flying off Rabeya Khan before she made 36 from 58 balls.
Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and Rodrigues came as the rescue for India as the duo stitched a brilliant partnership of 131 runs which changed the scenario of the match. Kaur was sent back to the pavilion by Sultana Khatun before Kaur scored a fine 52 off 88 balls. But Rodrigues was absolute on fire today. She was adamant, and was high as the sky. She seemed to bat on a different batting surface. Rodrigues scored a fantastic 86 off 78 balls with a jaw dropping strike rate of 110.26. The innings was orchestrated with 9 eye catching boundaries. At the end, Harleen Doel's quick-fire cameo helped India post a competitive total of 228 on the board. Nahida, Sultana picked up 2 wickets apiece. While Marufa and Rabeya had one solitary apiece.
In reply of 229, Bangladesh had a poor start. Jemimah Rodrigues trickery bowling was too good for Bangladesh to understand. She ripped through Bangladesh's middle order with a bowling figure of 4/3 after a match winning 86. While the Indian pacers rattled down team tigress' top order and bundled them to 120 runs and won the match by 108 runs.
With the win India Women have squared the series by 1-1. The last and the decider of the series will be played on Saturday, 22nd July.
