Pakistan have held their control of the match as they trail by another 138 runs at the end of the first session of the first Test against Bangladesh at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

The second day started well for the Tigers when Abu Jayed Rahi got rid of Abid Ali for a six-ball duck in the second over. The pressure on Pakistani batsmen did not last long enough with opener Shan Masood and captain Azhar Ali getting easy runs courtesy of Bangladesh's bowling. Abu Jayed seemed to be the only pacer making proper use of the conditions whereas Ebadat Hossain and Rubel Hossain's inconsistency with line and length added more woes to Bangladesh. The duo of Shan and Azhar put up a 91-run partnership for the second-wicket. It was Jayed who brought the breakthrough, getting Azhar caught at first-slip for 34 runs in the 23rd over. Pakistan are at lunch with 95 runs for 2 wickets in 27 overs. Spirited bowling from Jayed and Taijul Islam slowed down the scoring rate in the last half-an-hour. Masood, who brought up his eighth Test half-century, is unbeaten on 83-ball 59 runs including 9 fours. Alongside him is Babar Azam, who is yet to score a run from 14 deliveries. Earlier on day one, Pakistan sent Bangladesh into batting. The visitors were bundled out for 233 runs in 82.5 overs on the opening day. Mohammad Mithun top-scored for them with 63 runs. Meanwhile, Shaheen Shah Afridi grabbed 4 wickets for 53 runs.
