All-rounder Michael Leask claims that Scotland are "quietly confident" of beating Australia to guarantee their spot in the Super Eight of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

"Australia are one of the best in the world," Leask said. "It is going to be a tough game, but why can't we go and do what we've done before and cause an upset?"

Scotland will have to beat Australia to qualify for the next stage as England surpassed their net run-rate thrashing Oman in their last match. However, Scotland can still qualify after losing to Australia if England can’t beat Namibia in their last match.

However, Leask is not thinking about that. “It's a must-win game, always has been. I think we knew coming into this game it would be. It's a hell of an opportunity for us. We're still going to have to play our best cricket because we know Australia have got a wonderful squad. They've all been in the IPL, they've all been everywhere and, on their given their day, they will dominate sides. They are the best in the world for a reason as a collective unit, but we're going to have to put them under pressure somehow,” Leask added.

“We know that to win the game we're going to have to bat extremely well and with the ball we're going to have to hold our disciplines and bowl really well against a star-studded line-up.”

Scotland will face Australia in an all-important clash for them on June 16 in St Lucia.
