While the yo-yo test has already been there for quite a long time, the Board of Control for Cricket in
have recently introduced the new fitness test for the players eyeing a spot in the Indian cricket team. The new fitness test is mandatory for players who will have to clear two tests in order to earn a place in the team.
The newly-introduced fitness test is all about the 2-km run test to determine the players' endurance levels. Earlier, the likes of Mohammed Shami and Sanju Samson were excluded from the Indian squad after failing to pass the yo-yo test.
In the newly-introduced test, the cricketers need to sprint the required distance in a specific time. For batsmen, wicketkeepers and spinners, the benchmark is 8 minutes and 30 seconds. However, the fast bowlers are required to finish the 2-km distance in 8 minutes and 15 seconds.

Meanwhile, young cricketer Ishan Kishan has opened up that he had cleared the BCCI's 2-km fitness test. Jharkhand and India A batsman made the headlines recently after media reports mentioning that he failed to clear the new mandatory test at the NCA in Bangalore this week.
However, the young cricketer snubbed such infamous reports with his latest post on his Instagram handle. Earlier, reports stated that as many as six players didn't clear the fitness test at NCA. As per a report in TOI, Kishan was one of those 6 players. The other players include the likes of Nitish Rana, Rahul Tewatia, Siddarth Kaul, Jaydev Unadkat, Sanju Samson.
However, Ishan Kishan proved the report 'false'. Just a day ago, the wicketkeeper-batsman, on Friday, posted some stories on his Instagram account where he gave latest updates on his training in Bengaluru. Meanwhile, in one of his stories, he had confirmed that he cleared the 2-km run test.
