Delhi Capitals (DC) extended their winning streak in IPL 2025 with a clinical 6-wicket victory over Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 10. Despite early setbacks, DC chased down 164 with ease thanks to a masterful knock from KL Rahul who remained unbeaten on 93 off 53 balls, and a solid finishing act by Tristan Stubbs.

Being asked to bowl first Delhi Capitals got an early breakthrough after RCB openers Phil Salt and Virat Kohli smashed 61 runs in under four overs. Salt departed for a blazing 37 off 17 balls after which RCB lost momentum. Wickets tumbled in quick succession with Kohli, Devdutt Padikkal, and Liam Livingstone all falling cheaply. Tim David provided the finishing touch with an unbeaten 37 off 20 deliveries to help RCB post 163 on the board.

In reply Delhi had a rocky start losing Faf du Plessis and Jake Fraser-McGurk early in the powerplay. However KL Rahul steadied the ship with a composed and fluent knock anchoring the chase with timely boundaries and calculated strokeplay. Tristan Stubbs played a supporting role with an unbeaten 38 guiding Delhi home with 13 balls to spare.

KL Rahul | Player of the Match:

"It was a slightly tricky wicket. What helped me was being behind the stumps for 20 overs, watching how it played. From wicketkeeping, I figured the ball sat in a bit but stayed consistent.

I knew my shots and targeted the right pockets. Got a bit lucky with the dropped catch. This is my ground, my home. I know it better than anyone. Enjoyed playing here."

Axar | DC captain: "The way the team is playing, everyone is confident and feels good to win four out of four. They like facing pacers, so I felt using spin early was a good option. The ball was stopping and there was some bounce as well, so I felt it was hard to hit spinners in the powerplay. The 19th over by me was perhaps a mistake tactically. But it's okay since we have won.The way they are bowling - Kuldeep has been doing it for years, but a special word for Vipraj. 

The way he bowled, even in the 18th over, he was confident. My job becomes easy with someone like Rahul in the order. I've also been used as a floater before, so I know it's not easy. To have someone like him is great. He played a mature innings and is continuing the form from the Champions Trophy"

Tristan Stubbs: "It was really satisfying, came in a bit of a tricky situation but the run-rate never got out of hand. To be honest, I didn’t have to do much, with the way KL Rahul batted. We briefly mentioned it (about DLS par score) but I never really thought about it, we had so much extra time, so you always come back out here, so it’s about time to kick on.. (On his mindset when he came into bat) Just gave myself some time, we lost quite a number of wickets. We were in a similar position in the run-chase last year (at this venue). 

We had lost four wickets and then kept on losing wickets. I saw what Tim did in the end, it was just about one big over. Every sort of position is so different so you just tailor and be prepared for batting at the end. Often you enjoy batting later on in the game, in the beginning, you have to adjust quicker"
