Australian national cricket team player Travis Head is prepared to take on the challenge posed by Jasprit Bumrah in the upcoming pink-ball Test at the Adelaide Oval, starting on December 6. The second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 holds great significance for Australia after their crushing 295-run defeat in the series opener at Perth.
Reflecting on Bumrah’s bowling prowess, Head praised the Indian pacer, stating that Bumrah will be remembered as “one of the greatest fast bowlers to play the game.”
Bumrah was instrumental in India's victory in the first Test, taking eight wickets across both innings. His devastating spells helped India secure a 46-run lead in the first innings, even after being bowled out for just 150 runs.
Head spoke highly of Bumrah’s skill, saying, “Jasprit will go down as probably one of the greatest fast bowlers to play the game. I think we’re finding that at the moment, how challenging he can be, and it’s nice to play against that.”
He further added, “It’s gonna be nice to go back and look at your career and tell the grandkids that you faced him. So not a bad series of playing with him. Hopefully, I’ll face him a few more times, but he is as challenging as it gets.”
Despite the setback in Perth, Head is optimistic about Australia’s chances in the series. He acknowledged that many teams have overcome early defeats to stage impressive comebacks, and he believes Australia has the resilience to do the same.
"We’ve had some challenging times and a couple of challenging Tests last year. We didn't have a very good week. That’s fine. But we have got four more opportunities to do it, we will crack on as we do, as we have done for the last few years.” he said.
Australia’s last pink-ball Test was in January, while India recently played a day-night match against the Prime Minister's XI on December 1.
