The Men's Cricket World Cups in 2027 and 2031 will feature 14 teams and 54 matches per event. The Men's T20 World Cup will be held in 2024, 2026, 2028 and 2030 with 20 teams (55 matches).
The eight-team Champions Trophy, which was last held in 2017, will be back in 2025 and 2029. While the World Test Champions finals will be played in 2025, 2027, 2029 and 2031.
"The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup will become a 14 team, 54 match event in 2027 and 2031, whilst the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup will be expanded to a 20 team, 55 match event in 2024, 2026, 2028 and 2030. An eight team Champions Trophy will be hosted in 2025 and 2029. ICC World Test Championship Finals will be hosted in 2025, 2027, 2029 and 2031," the ICC said in a release.
However, there will be no quarter-finals in the ODI format World Cup. The 2027 edition will see the return of 'Super Six' stage, which semi-finals and final will follow.
T20 World Cup has been played with 16 teams since 2014 with Super 10s (in 2014 and 2016) and Super 12s (to be played in 2021 and 2022). This format will change in 2024 as there will be four groups of five. Eight teams will proceed to Super 8s and then semi-finals and the final.
"The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup format will have two groups of seven, with the top three in each group progressing to a Super Six stage, followed by semi-finals and final. This is the same format that was used in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2003.
"The format of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup will consist of four groups of five, with the top two from each group going through to a Super Eights stage, followed by the knockout stages of semi-finals and a final. The Champions Trophy will follow previous editions with two groups of four, semi-finals and final," the ICC added.
2015 was the last time an ODI World Cup was played with 14 teams, with 2011 being the first time. England and Wales hosted a 10-team World Cup in 2019 and so will
