Legendary Pakistan fast bowler, Wasim Akram, has made an emotional plea to Team India and the BCCI, urging them to participate in the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025, set to be hosted in Pakistan. Expressing optimism about the possibility, Akram is confident that India will send their team to Pakistan for the high-profile tournament next year.
During a recent conversation, the former Pakistan captain shared his belief that Indian cricket stars such as Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, and Suryakumar Yadav have a massive fan following in Pakistan, and they will be treated with utmost care and respect when they visit. Akram also reassured that the Indian team would receive top-notch hospitality throughout their stay.
Speaking about India’s participation, Akram stated, "I think whatever I'm reading, there are positive vibes from [the] Indian government and [the] BCCI. I also read somewhere they will play probably all their games in Lahore. They will probably come to Lahore and travel [back] the same night. I'm all for it, as long as India is comfortable."
Further elaborating on the hospitality Indian players would receive in Pakistan, Akram added, "I can promise you, they [are] going to get looked after amazingly well. I mean, Indian cricketers like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, [Hardik] Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, they have fans in Pakistan. The young cricket fans adore them.”
India has not played a cricket match in Pakistan since the 2008 Asia Cup, with political tensions often causing obstacles for such events. While the BCCI awaits a final decision from the Indian government regarding the Champions Trophy 2025, Akram remains hopeful that the Indian cricket team will make the much-anticipated visit.
