England seamer Gus Atkinson has been announced the ICC Men's player of the Month for July 2024 for his outstanding heroics against the West Indies. While Chamari Athapaththu named the ICC Women's player of thr Month for July 2024, she led Sri Lanka Women's to their maiden Asia Cup title after beating India in the final.

Atkinson had a dream debut against West Indies, scalping 22 wickets in the series and became the leading wicket-taker and also was named as the player of the series. He made a scintillating debut after taking fifer in the each innings, bagging 12 wickets on his debut. Atkinson continued his impressive form, taking 10 more wickets across the remaining two Tests. 

"It is a real privilege to win the ICC Player of the Month! The start to my Test career has been unbelievable, and I never imagined achieving this level of success in my first series with England," Atkinson said.

“I am incredibly grateful to my teammates and the fantastic environment created by Baz (Brendon McCullum) and Stokesy (Ben Stokes).
“It's an honour to play and represent my country. I know there is a lot of hard work ahead, especially with a big series against Sri Lanka coming up. I'm excited to maintain consistency and do my best to help England succeed.”

Sri Lankan talismanic batter Athapaththu piled up 304 runs at a swashbuckling strike rate of 146.85. And it was enough to make her the Women's player of the month for July.

Chamari Athapaththu won this award for third times and tied at three awards with West Indies’ Hayley Matthews, sitting behind Australia’s Ashleigh Gardner (four wins).
