England national test cricket team captain Ben Stokes has openly expressed his frustration with the International Cricket Council (ICC) after both England and New Zealand were fined for maintaining a slow over-rate during the first Test in Christchurch.

The match saw England pull off a dominant 8-wicket win, but despite the early finish, both teams faced penalties from the ICC.

Stokes took to Instagram to mock the ICC’s decision, posting a sarcastic story saying, "Good on you ICC! Finished the game with 10 hours of play still left," highlighting his disbelief over the fine, even though the game concluded ahead of schedule.

The ICC fined both teams 15% of their match fees and docked three points from each side in the World Test Championship (WTC) standings for being three overs short of their required targets.

Despite the penalties, England managed a stunning performance, chasing down a modest target of 104 runs in just 12.4 overs, achieving the fastest-ever 100-plus run chase in Test history.

This ruling left Stokes clearly annoyed, as he felt it was unfair for both teams to be penalized despite the match ending on Day 4. The second Test of the series will begin on December 6 at the Basin Reserve in Wellington, where England will look to maintain their winning momentum.
