Highlights
With two regulars, David Warner and Mitchell Marsh being rested, Australia will have to make two changes to the historic XI from T20 WC Final. The day earlier to the match, Aussie captain Aaron Finch announced the XI for the first T20 against Sri Lanka.
Immensely talented batter Josh Inglis is going to make his debut, whereas Ben Mcdermott will be seen in the opening due to his brilliant performance in the Big Bash season so far.
This is going to be Aussie's first T20 match after winning last year's T20 World Cup. McDermott, the highest run-scorer in the just-concluded Big Bash, will be seen with captain Finch at the opening. Inglis will come down in number three.
Moreover, familiar faces will play in other places. These two places are the only changes since the final game against New Zealand. Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stones will naturally be in the middle order. TAlso on the pace attack will be leaded by- Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood. Adam Jampa will be in the line up as only spinner.
Captain Finch is quite excited about the two young star McDermott and Inglis. Finch said, "Ben McDermott has incredible rhythm. So it was very important for us to get him in the top order."
He added: "And Josh Inglis is one who can bat anywhere in the batting order. He may not have scored as many runs in the Big Bash this time as in the past, but he played a slightly different role. So this is a great opportunity for him. "
The Reigning T20 champions Australia will take on Sri Lanka on Friday (February 11) at the Sydney Cricket Ground. This is also going to be Aussie's first match after the resignation of head coach Justin Langer.
