Being asked to bat first, PNG didn't lose wickets in a cluster. However they were tad slow and kept going at a tepid pace. No batter put up a decent score, only three batters reached to the three figures. Charles Amini top scored with his 17, all the Kiwi bowlers got into wickets but the headline was taken by Lockie Ferguson, who became the only second bowler in the history of T20I's to have 4 maidens, including 4 maidens he got 3 wickets as well. PNG were bowled out for 78.
