According to latest reports Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is preparing to recall their dashing opener Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq for the upcoming white-ball tour against South Africa. According to Cricket Pakistan, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is likely to make two changes to the squad that is currently facing Australia, bringing back Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq.

Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq Set for Return in Pakistan's Squad for South Africa Tour

Both players were recently excluded from the central contracts list announced by the PCB, with Fakhar's omission attributed to fitness concerns according to PCB, while no explanation was provided for Imam's exclusion. However, following Pakistan's defeat in the first ODI against Australia, the team management seems to have reconsidered their squad strategy, opting to include the experienced duo for the upcoming series against South Africa in December.

Pakistan are currently in the middle of a multi-format series against Australia and will travel to Zimbabwe afterward. Neither Fakhar nor Imam were named in the squads for these tours. Nevertheless, their imminent return for the South Africa series reflects a shift in Pakistan's plans. 

Fakhar Zaman has been in the spotlight recently due to his public support for Babar Azam, following the latter’s dropping from the Test squad during Pakistan’s tour of England, which led to Fakhar being issued a showcause notice by the PCB. This incident seemingly contributed to Fakhar’s absence from the ongoing series against Australia.

Pakistan’s tour of South Africa will commence with a three-match T20I series from December 10 to 14 in Durban, Centurion, and Johannesburg, followed by a three-match ODI series from December 17 to 22. The teams will then play a Test series from December 26 to January 7, which will be part of the World Test Championship.
