Former England captain Eoin Morgan has lauded Team India's remarkable record in home Test matches, admitting that England's achievements over the years pale in comparison to India’s dominance on their own turf. Morgan, who has closely followed India's rise in Test cricket, particularly emphasized the team’s relentless hunger and drive to win consistently.
Speaking at a recent event, Morgan praised India's incredible run of 18 consecutive home Test series wins since 2013, calling them one of the greatest teams in home conditions. "They (India) have to be considered one of the greatest in their conditions. What makes them so good is their hunger and the desire to want to win. Their attitude towards that they never take for granted," Morgan stated.
India’s record-breaking feats in Test cricket have been nothing short of extraordinary. Their ability to bring up milestones such as the fastest team totals of 50, 100, 150, 200, and 250 runs in the history of Test cricket, as seen in their recent series against Bangladesh, exemplifies their dominance. Morgan pointed out that despite the advantages various teams enjoy on their home grounds, India's achievements stand out.
"We come from countries that have huge advantages for the home side. But yet, our records throughout generations are nowhere near as good as Indians," Morgan added.
As India looks ahead to the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Morgan tipped them to have the upper hand, especially if they maintain the same aggressive approach when facing Australia's top spinner, Nathan Lyon. He remarked, "If they take that mindset into playing Nathan Lyon like that, it asks a lot of questions of Australia."
