Dramatic tie at the Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Dhaka. India needed 1 from last 3 balls and had 1 wicket in hands Meghna Singh was caught behind and the match had been tied as well as the series by 1-1.
Earlier the day, Bangladesh women won the toss and they chose to bat first. Coming out to bat, they had a glorious start as the openers added 93 runs to the tally. Courtesy some brilliant batting from Shamima Sultana and Fargana Hoque. Shamima Sultana notched up a brilliant fifty and scored a fine 52 off 78 deliveries. After the departure of Shamima, Fargana Hoque and Nigar Sultana kept the ship going. Their partnership was worth of 71 runs before the latter fell to Sneha Rana for 24 off 36 balls.
Fargana Hoque bludgeoned Indian bowlers at ease. An played one of the best innings of all time from any Bangladeshi women at international level. She notched up hundred and became the first and only batter from Bangladesh Women to score a ton in ODI's. Fargana Hoque made 107 off 160 balls with a fine strike rate of 66.88. She smacked 7 boundaries in her legendary innings. With some lusty blows at the end from Sobhana Mostery, Bangladesh women ended their journey at 225-4. Sneha Rana had the best outing for India as she picked up 2 wickets. While Devika Vaidya got 1.
In reply of 226, India had a sterile start. Courtesy some brilliant bowling yet again from Marufa Akter as she struck earlier and picked up the wicket of Shafali Verma. Yastika Bhatia got trapped for LBW off Sultana Khatun and India were reeling at 32-2. Smriti Mandhana and Harleen Deol came as the rescue and stitched a brilliant partnership of 107 runs before the former one saw herself in the hands of Sobhana Mostery for a fine 59 off 85 balls.
Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur made 14 off 21 balls. Harleen Deol had an unlucky out as she ran herself out for a glorious 77 off 108 balls. India had a mild collapse at the middle and seemed like Bangladesh had the upper hand. But it’s Jemimah Rodrigues helped India coming out from a deep hole. She made a fantastic 33* off 45 but still was unable to chase the total as the last batter from India were caught behind off Marufa Akter when they needed 1 and the match was tied.
The series is shared between the two teams as both won 1 apiece. Fargana Hoque's brilliant century to Rodrigues single handedly fighting innings this had been quite a memorable series.
