Cremer questions third umpire's decision after Sri Lanka loss

After a disappointing loss against Sri Lanka in the one-off Test series, Zimbabwe captain Graeme Cremer rued the controversial Niroshan Dickwella stumping decision. The third umpire gave it not out, even though in the replays it seemed like the decision should've been in favor of the bowling side. Sri Lanka was chasing an imposing target of 388 to win the match. The situation became more dire for the home side, as they lost Angelo Mathews and Kusal Mendis cheaply and were 203 for 5, needing another 185 runs to win the match. When the score was 237 for 5, wicket keeper Regis Chakabva stumped Dickwella off the bowling of Sikandar Raza. The on field umpire referred the decision to the third umpire, Chettithody Shamshuddin. The decision was a close one, but it seemed like the batsman's foot was on the line, not inside the line when the bells were dislodged. So, everyone assumed that Dickwella would be on his way to the dressing room and match will permanently shift in favor of Zimbabwe. But the third umpire gave it not out. This controversial decision became the turning point of the match. Dickwella went on to score a match winning 81 run innings and save his side from an embarrassing loss. Cremer was not amused by the decision and expressed his frustration."From what I saw honestly, I didn't see any doubt why he should be not out but just one of those things - if you have got technology and it clearly shows then. It happens to us quite a lot. We feel it's tough when those things go against you especially when you are trying to win a Test match on a last day," said the Zimbabwe skipper. However, Cremer lauded his teammates for playing exceptional cricket in this series. Zimbabwe had previously won the ODI series and almost pulled off a Test victory against the former World Cup winning side. "We feel disappointed. We have got together and said that we should be proud of the way we pushed Sri Lanka having won the ODI series and pushed them in the Test match as well.
