Champaka Ramanayake has a long association with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). However, this relationship of almost an era on both sides is about to end. The contract of the Lankan pace bowling coach with the High-Performance Unit (HP) ends this month. Even though he parted ways with HP, Champaka has paved the way to return to his new role in BCB.

Champaka's contract with HP will expire on July 31 this month. It is known that BCB is not extending the contract with him. Then this Lankan coach will return to his country.

HP department appointed a new pace bowling coach a few days ago. As a result, Champaka was working in the ongoing program of Bangladesh Tigers. BCB's reluctance to extend the contract with this Lankan coach due to the appointment of a new coach.

But Champaka can return to new duties. The position of pace bowling coach in the Bangladesh women's team is vacant. BCB president Nazmul Hassan Papon has assured that someone will be brought into that position soon. So the women's department of the board has kept Champaka in the list of possible coaches.

Champaka also has the experience of working with the women's team in a long career in Bangladesh. Along with HP, this Sri Lankan has worked sometimes in the national team, and sometimes in some other program.
