Ben Stokes has broken the previous record of highest individual score in ODI cricket from England on Wednesday (14th September) against New Zealand. Ben Stokes and Malan show marginalised New Zealand but Stokes' 182 was the highlight of England's innings.

After being put into bat first, England were stuttering for 13-2 and Boult was breathing fire. Coming out to bat at number four Ben Stokes were in ominous touch. His comeback series and team in pressure and he showed his highest caliber. He started to smack the Kiwi bowlers at ease. Stokes and Malan stitched a match turning partnership of 199 runs. Once they got to their respective fifties and Kiwis introduced Rachin Ravindra both of them bludgeoned him for 11 and 17 off his first two overs. They geared up at the highest and particularly that was Ben Stokes who kept hitting without hesitation.

He notched up his ODI hundred after nearly 6 years and then again started to punish and pummel the New Zealand bowlers and went for hitting six continuously. However he departed on 182 which is the highest ODI individual score by an English player. The previous best was from Jason Roy, 180 against Australia at MCG back in 2018.
