Pakistan were scheduled to arrive in Bangladesh in July this year to play a full bilateral series against Bangladesh consisting of three ODIs, two Tests and a sole T20I match. But just out of nowhere, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) decided to call off the series on last Wednesday. [ নিউজটি বাংলায় পড়ুনঃ “পাকিস্তান বাংলাদেশকে মোকাবেলা করতে ভয় পায়”] Explaining why they were taking such a decision, PCB chairman Shahryar Khan had said that because Bangladesh didn’t give them a return visit despite they toured this country twice in last few years, so they were unwilling to tour Bangladesh for the third straight time. [Read also: BCB to issue Pakistan show cause notice] Though the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is yet to hear anything officially from PCB, its president Nazmul Hasan Papon is of the opinion that what Shahryar had said was not true. Rather the BCB boss believes Pakistan decided to skip the series because “they are afraid of facing Bangladesh”. During a press conference on Friday afternoon at his Gulshan resident, Papon told the media, “Pakistan don’t want to face Bangladesh because they are afraid. They are afraid because they think they might lose to Bangladesh again and slip to further downwards in the rankings.” To be noted, Bangladesh are currently ranked 7^th in the ICC ODI Team Rankings with 92 points, while Pakistan are at 8^th with two points less.
