The International Cricket Council (ICC) organizes this trophy tour before every World Cup. The World Cup trophy will also come to Bangladesh as part of the trophy tour. BCB Chief Executive Officer Nizamuddin Chowdhury told the media in detail about where the trophy will be showcased in Bangladesh.
Today (July 31), Nizamuddin told the media, “The Cricket World Cup trophy will be sent to Bangladesh also as part of the ICC Trophy Tour. ICC has done such activities before. It is a campaign by ICC before the World Cup. The trophy will arrive in Bangladesh on August 7, it will be taken away on the 9th.”
Nizamuddin added, “The plan so far, of course we will make arrangements for general public to see in a public place. Apart from this, our board and those related to cricket, if they are interested, arrangements will be made for them. At the same time, the media too.”
The World Cup trophy is also going to showcase on the Padma Bridge. In this regard, Nizamuddin further said, “Padma Bridge is the pride of our country, an iconic structure. We have plans to arrange a photo session of the World Cup trophy with the Padma Bridge.”
BCB will arrange to keep the trophy in a shopping mall for the convenience of the general public. General visitors will have the opportunity to see the trophy and take pictures with the trophy. Nizamuddin said, “We have plans so far to put it in a shopping mall. This was done before. So we will try to make it visible to common people as much as possible. In that case, we will probably give it some time on the 8th or 9th (for the exhibition at the shopping mall). We have already spoken to two authorities. Probably Bashundhara shopping mall is where we plan. They have one day off each week. Maybe we have to showcase adapting like that.”
