The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has been notified that Shakib Al Hasan, the all-rounder of the National Team, has been suspended from bowling in competitions governed by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). This suspension extends to all domestic cricket leagues outside Bangladesh and international cricket competitions. The decision follows an independent assessment conducted at an ICC-accredited testing center in the United Kingdom.
As outlined in clause 11.3 of the ICC regulations regarding illegal bowling actions, a suspension issued by any National Cricket Federation is automatically enforced by the ICC for international cricket and recognized by other National Cricket Federations for their respective domestic leagues. This enforcement takes effect immediately upon receiving the official notification, with no additional procedures required.
Under clause 11.4 of the ICC regulations, Shakib may undergo reassessment at an ICC-approved testing facility. If his action is deemed legal in the reassessment, Shakib will be reinstated to bowl in international matches and domestic competitions overseen by other cricket boards.
Although Shakib is currently prohibited from bowling, he remains eligible to play as a batsman in all domestic and international formats. The BCB confirms that Shakib intends to undergo reassessment at an accredited center to work towards clearing his bowling action.
The BCB continues to communicate with the ECB, ICC, and Shakib throughout this process. No additional comments will be made by the BCB at this time.
