This is the fourth consecutive defeat of the former Bangladesh players in the tournament.
Kirk Edwards was instrumental in the West Indies' victory. He scored 46 off 28 balls with 6 fours and 2 sixes. Captain Brian Lara was unbeaten on 31 off 23 balls with 3 fours.
Nazimuddin and Mehrab Hossain gave a good start to Bangladesh after losing the toss. Bangladesh got 41 runs in the power play. After that the team lost the wicket. Nazimuddin hit Ryan Austin two sixes in a row and then was run out. He scored 33 off 24 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes. The opening pair of 64 runs broke there.
Then all-rounder Aftab Ahmed started his natural attacking batting. Mehrab also continued to increase runs quickly. Aftab scored 31 runs off just 21 balls while Mehrab scored 44 runs off 45 balls before they both get out.
Then Mohammad Sharif kept the scoreboard busy. He hit three sixes in an over of Austin. Sharif was dismissed for 26 off 13 balls by Suleiman Benn.
Bangladesh started well with the ball also. They got the wicket of William Perkins and Dwayne Smith inside power play. But then the stormy innings of Edwards began. He alongwith Lara made a 62-run partnership and made the win easy for the team. At the end, they won by 5 wickets.
