Bangladesh call two uncapped players for Afghanistan series, Litton to lead the team
Two young guns- Dipu and Musfik have been performing well for a long time in domestic cricket. The duo also shone in the recently-concluded three-match Test series between Bangladesh ‘A’ and West Indies ‘A’.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced a 15-member squad on Sunday (June 4) for the one-off Test against Afghanistan. In the absence of regular captain Shakib Al Hasan due to injury, Litton Das will lead the team in the Test. There are also two new faces in the squad- Shahadat Hossain Dipu and Musfik Hasan.
Two young guns- Dipu and Musfik have been performing well for a long time in domestic cricket. The duo also shone in the recently-concluded three-match Test series between Bangladesh ‘A’ and West Indies ‘A’. The under-19 World Cup-winning team batter Dipu has played 20 first-class matches and 36 List A matches till now where he has over 2300 runs with average over 36.00. While pacer Musfik has played 13 first-class matches and 13 List A matches and has 64 wickets total.
The rest of the squad are familiar faces. Zakir Hasan has returned to the team after recovering injury. Shadman Islam who made comeback in the last Ireland series, has been dropped out for the Afghanistan series. Except for that, pacer Taskin Ahmed has also returned to the squad as his injury concern diminishes.
The only Test between host Bangladesh and visiting Afghanistan will start on June 14, the venue of which is the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, known as the 'home of cricket'. After this match, the Afghans will go on a tour of India and will return in July. The three matches of the ODI series will be held on July 5, July 8, and July 11. After that, two T20Is will be held on July 14 and 16. The venue of the ODI series is Chattogram and, the venue of the T20I series is Sylhet.
