Australia are placed third, below New Zealand and India. A future about tour to Bangladesh for two Tests is also uncertain Sri Lanka toured the rainbow country for two Test matches in 2020-21 after England had gone back home playing three T20Is and leaving the ODI series hanging. "Following extensive due diligence with medical experts, it has become clear that traveling from Australia to South Africa at this current time poses an unacceptable level of health and safety risk to our players, support staff and the community," Cricket Australia chief executive Nick Hockley said in a release. "We acknowledge the significant amount of work by CSA in planning for the tour, during which we made it clear that CA was prepared to take on additional cost and effort to make the series happen. "This decision has not been made lightly and we are extremely disappointed, especially given the importance of continuing international cricket at this time, our valued relationship with CSA, and our aspirations to compete in the inaugural ICC World Test Championship." Australia's chances of making into the WTC finals faltered following a 1-2 series defeat in the four-match series against India. The last Test visit to South Africa was absolutely devastating for Australia because of one reason - the sandpapergate in Cape Town - which led ICC and CA in taking actions on then captain Steve Smith, David Wadner and Vamero Bancroft.
