With his dominant performance throughout the 2023 Vitality Blast, Daniel Sams has been named the competition's Player of the Year. The Essex all-rounder had a wonderful Vitality Blast 2023, scoring 419 runs and picking up 25 wickets to help his team place second.

Sams gave it his all, but Somerset still won the T20 Blast at Edgbaston for the first time in 18 years. the all-rounder, came to the wicket at No. 7, his Essex side was in a tight spot in their run chase of 146. He promptly blasted 45 runs off of 26 balls.

He was caught in the last over by New Zealand pacer Matt Henry, who ended with 4-24 and helped Somerset win by 14 runs.

In his second MVP performance, against Middlesex, he scored 67 runs in 24 balls while also picking up a wicket, earning himself 38 points.

At Edgbaston, Sams was presented with a trophy and £2,500 for winning the Vitality Blast Player of the Year award, both of which were made by Mappin & Webb.
