Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto praises the bowlers for their outstanding performance throughout the tournament. He also thinks Bangladesh fielded very well but expresses dissatisfaction about the performance of batters.

Bangladesh have performed well as a bowling unit in all the matches they played in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Spinner Rishad Hossain is the joint third highest wicket-taker in the tournament with 14 wickets. Pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib also took 11 wickets. Shanto praises both bowlers.

“I think as a whole bowling unit, we did a great job. Specially I mentioned Rishad whole tournament, he bowled really well. Tanzim Sakib bowled well. I felt all the bowlers did a great job. That is we can take forward and as a fielding group, I think we fielded really well in the all the matches. So, there are lots of positive things that we can get going forward,” Shanto said.

Bangladesh lost to Afghanistan by 8 runs (DLS method) in a breathtaking match in St Vincent. After being asked to bowl first, Bangladesh bowled really well and restricted Afghanistan to 115 runs in 20 overs. In the chase, Bangladesh had a chance but they kept losing wickets regularly while at the other end, Litton Das kept fighting but they lost the match despite his fight.

“I think when we start our game, all the bowlers did a very great job. On that wicket we should have win, the way our bowler bowled. So I think as a batting group we made a lot of poor decision that cost us today,” Shanto added.
