Former India and Tamil Nadu medium-pace bowler Bharat Arun, who last held the position, has once again been appointed as the new bowling coach of Team India.
The declarion of Arun's appointment came on Tuesday (July 18).
Earlier he served as the bowling coach of India during Ravi Shastri's tenure as team director from August 2014 to April 2016.
Arun will join the Indian team on a two-year period until the end of the 2019 ICC World Cup, while current batting coach Sanjay Bangar has been elevated to the title of assistant coach for the same duration. R Sridhar will continue as fielding coach.
The names were announced in Ravi Shastri’s first press conference as head coach at the BCCI head quarters in Mumbai.
nitially, when Shastri’s name was announced by the Cricket Advistory Committee on July 10, Dravid was appointed as batting consultant for overseas tours and Zaheer was named the bowling coach.
Shastri did clear the air about what their roles will be going forward. “I was very clear in my mind who my core team will be. Dravid, Zaheer Khan are most welcome. I spoke personally to both. They will be on board. Their inputs will be very important.
“All depends on their availability, it depends on individuals, the number of days they want to give but their inputs will be invaluable and they are most welcome.”
