Following Rishad Hossain’s signing, another cricketer from Bangladesh, Anamul Haque Bijoy, has secured a spot in the upcoming Zim Afro T10 league. The experienced wicket-keeper batter will represent the Bulawayo Braves Jaguars this season.

Last year, the team featured another Bangladeshi player, Taskin Ahmed, and now, with Bijoy joining, the team aims to rally support from Bangladesh’s fans.

Unlike Rishad, who was signed directly, Bijoy was picked through the players’ draft. The organizers have asked fans to brace themselves for Bijoy’s entertaining and exciting batting display. After a period of ups and downs in the national team, Bijoy is enjoying a strong run in his career, making a comeback in the Bangladesh colors. Fans are hopeful that he will deliver big performances in the T10 format as well.

Apart from the Bulawayo Braves Jaguars, Bangladeshi eyes will also be on the Harare Bolts, who had earlier signed Rishad Hossain ahead of the draft. Rishad performed very well in the last T20 World Cup. His standout performances earned him a spot in Canada’s Global T20 League.

Rishad also made history as the first Bangladeshi cricketer to be picked from the draft for Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL). Though Shakib Al Hasan had played in the BBL earlier, he had joined as a mid-season replacement. Rishad further impressed by securing a spot in the Zim Afro T10 League even before the draft, with the Harare Bolts snapping him up.

Notable players like Jimmy Neesham, David Warner, David Willey, Dawid Malan, Qais Ahmad, Thisara Perera, and Luke Wood joined teams before the draft, while stars like Sikandar Raza, Ryan Burl, Laurie Evans, and Avishka Fernando, along with Bijoy, found their place in the draft.

The 2024 edition of the Zim Afro T10 League, featuring six teams, is set to begin on September 21.
