Afghanistan U19s have won their first match of the Bangladesh tour, thanks to a 'mankad' run-out that gave them 19-run victory in the fourth Youth ODI at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
Bangladesh, who secured the five-match series winning the first three ODIs, fell short of the target (211) set by the visitors.
With 20 needed off 34 balls, Afghanistan skipper Nangeyalia Kharote mankadded non-striker Mushfik Hasan to bowl Bangladesh out for 191 runs. Tahjibul Islam, who came in at 107/6, remainded stranded on 75-ball 50 runs hitting 3 fours and 2 sixes.
Bangladesh openers Mahfijul Islam and Ifthikher Hossain set up a 52-run partnership but they lost six wickets for the next 55 runs. No.8 batter Tahjibul's efforts were not enough to continue winning streak.
Afghanistan U19s made a solid start after opting to bat first with Suliman Arabzai making 52-ball 43 at the top. Bilal Ahmad struck 3 fours and 4 maximums in his 88-ball 60 runs - the highest individual score in the match.
Kharote helped his side at the death with unbeaten 27* off 36 to take score to 210/8.
The final ODI is on September 19 before the teams face off in a one-off Youth Test from the 22nd.
