Taijul Islam can be called the hidden hero of the country's cricket. Despite bringing success to Bangladesh regularly in Test cricket, the discussion is much less than other cricketers. He doesn’t get many chances in ODI and T20 also.

However, Tamim Iqbal is very fond of Taijul Islam. Taijul was included in the ODI XI several times during Tamim's captaincy. Taijul played in Tamim's team Fortune Barishal in this year's BPL as well. Barishal won the title by defeating Comilla Victorians by 6 wickets in the final. After the match, captain Tamim Iqbal gave a little surprising information about Taijul.

In the press conference, Tamim said, “Another person (important in winning the title) is Taijul Islam. I don't think it should be said but now is the time to say it. A team was laughing when we took Taijul in the draft. I felt very bad. I took an international player and a team was laughing. I’m very happy for him (Taijul). Because of his performance, BCB is giving him a chance in ODIs, and T20Is. I think they contributed a lot. We once played Keshav Maharaj. Taijul did well but did not play. Later Keshav left. Taijul did a great job back.”

Tamim added, '(Mehidy Hasan) Miraz's contribution was also important. He may not have bowled much. His presence was very important. The day he did it left a lot of impact. Everyone did great.”
