The league phase of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is over, and the battle of playoffs has begun. And IPL authorities have taken a novel and unique initiative in this fight. 500 trees will be planted for each dot ball in each playoff match. So if the batters play dot ball, there is a sense of gain!
The IPL Governing Council said - 500 trees will be planted for each dot ball in the first qualifier, eliminator, second qualifier, and final match. BCCI will plant trees all over India after the end of the IPL. From the first match of the playoffs, a tree icon is displayed next to each bowler's name in place of the dot ball. At first, many people did not understand it, but later they applauded.
Chennai Super Kings batted against Gujarat Titans in the first innings of the first qualifier. A total of 34 dot balls were in Chennai's innings, which means 17 thousand trees will be planted for the entire innings of Chennai.
Gujarat pacer Mohammed Shami bowled 2 overs in powerplay, out of which 8 were dot balls. In other words, Shami has gifted his country with 4,000 trees only in powerplay.
