Zimbabwe have qualified for the Super 12 stage with an easy win against Scotland on Friday (October 21) in Hobart. They beat Scotland by 5 wickets to top their group. Earlier, Ireland qualified from the same group defeating West Indies by 9 wickets.

Batting first, Scotland were not in T20 style in their batting. They were slow and lost wickets at regular intervals. It was opener George Munsey again who saved Scotland and gave them a total to fight. They scored 132 runs in 20 overs losing 6 wickets. Munsey scored 54 runs off 51 balls with 7 fours. Except for him, Callum MacLeod scored 25 runs off 26 balls. Tendai Chatara and Richard Ngarava both took two wickets each for Zimbabwe. 

Zimbabwe started off poorly chasing the target. They lost wickets early and couldn’t keep their momentum with the required run-rate. Zimbabwe were under pressure with the scorecard of 42/3 after 8 overs. But one of the most in-form T20 players in recent times, Sikandar Raza and Craig Ervine put on match-winning 66-run partnership for fourth wicket. Though Raza and Ervine couldn’t stay till the end but they ensured the team’s victory.

Ervine hit a half-century and scored 58 runs off 54 balls with 6 fours. While Raza scored 40 runs off 23 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes. Zimbabwe won the match with 9 balls in hand. Josh Davey was the most  successful bowler for Scotland with two wickets.
