Afghanistan beat England by 8 runs in a thriller on Wednesday (February 26) in Lahore. Ibrahim Zadran's sensational 177 off just 146 deliveries propelled Afghanistan to 325 on the board. In reply, Joe Root scored century but Azmatullah Omarzai's fifer helped Afghanistan get 8-run victory.

Opting to bat first, Afghanistan lost Rahmanullah Gurbaz to Jofra Archer after his struggling 6 off 15 deliveries. Then he had Sediqullah Atal and Rahmat Shah cheaply and left Afghanistan crumble at 37-3.

But then skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi and Ibrahim Zadran stitched a 103 run stand to help Afghanistan get out of the trouble. However, Adil Rashid knocked Hashmatullah Shahidi over after his gutsy 40 off 67 deliveries. And then Azmatullah Omarzai and Ibrahim Zadran then steered the ship for Afghanistan.

On that procees, Ibrahim Zadran brought up his hundred, along the way, stitching a vital 72-run stand, whereas Omarzai smashed 41 off 31 deliveries before his departure.

Mohammad Nabi then came in and blasted a quick-fire cameo of 40 off 24 balls and Ibrahim Zadran kept his mammoth innings going on, scoring a jaw dropping 177 off 146 deliveries, bludgeoning 6 sixes and 12 boundaries and helping his side get to a massive 325 on the board.

In reply, Phil Salt was gone cheaply and then Jamie Smith was removed by Mohammad Nabi as England were in deep trouble earlier on. Ben Duckett and Joe Root then stitched a 68-run stand together before the departure of Duckett. Harry Brook too then came in and joined the party, however he didn’t last long as Nabi removed him out. While Jos Buttler too came with all the guns blazing, scoring at a rapid pace before his departure. Things were getting nervy as Joe Root was left lonely to fight against an inform Afghan attack.

Root brought up his 17th ODI hundred but was left strangled by Azmatullah Omarzai as he ran riot through the English middle order as England were 8 runs short from the total.
