Bangladesh have made a good start in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. They won by 2 wickets in a thrilling match against Sri Lanka. The road to Super 8 is now much smoother for Bangladesh as among next three matches, two matches are against so called weak teams Netherlands and Nepal.

The level of interest in the Bangladeshi game is always at its highest. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hasan Papon always watches Bangladesh’s match. Following the match between Sri Lanka, Papon told BCB Cricket Operations Chairman Jalal Yunus, “You guys have made my heart weak.” Jalal, who is with the team in the USA, disclosed this while talking to the media.

Jalal told the media, “When I was in the car, I was talking to the president and he said, “You guys have finished my heart.” I said not only you, we also had a bad heart condition.”

Bangladesh struggled much in the chase of 125 runs in the first match against Sri Lanka. They chased down the target with just 2 wickets and 1 over in hand. So, there were much intense moments throughout the whole match.

Papon sat in a meeting with the cricketers of the team before the match. Later, Jalal revealed what he said after the meeting, “When I was talking, the president was with us, we were talking virtually in online the day before the match. He told me later, “No, the team seem very confident. The conversation seemed like that." I said yes, we lost the series (against USA). But they had confidence that they would make a comeback.”

Bangladesh’s next match is against South Africa on June 10 in New York.
