Namibia captain Gerhard Erasmus admits after the miserable defeat against Australia that there was a skill gap but they could minimize the gap after proper fighting which they failed to do.

Australia annihilated Namibia by 9 wickets with more than 14 overs left on Wednesday (12th June) at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, Antigua. The Aussie bowlers ripped through the Namibian batting lineup early on and even though a lone hand from Gerhard Erasmus, the total 72 wasn’t standard in front of Australia. David Warner was on a hurry, started to smack from ball one and then Travis Head joined the party with Mitchell Marsh finished things off with late blitz. They chased down the target from just 34 balls.

Erasmus also admits that they could play well according to the conditions in West Indies. “That you cannot sit back against the best in the world - that is one thing we learnt tonight. The skill gap is there but you can sort of close that by fighting fire with fire. We did not do that tonight. A good side like Australia will expose you if you are not willing to mentally step up on this level on a particular day. The conditions were fair throughout the last two games and we could not play well enough according to those conditions,” he said.

Namibia have won only one match till now playing three. They have one match left against England and they are already out of the tournament.
