Indian cricketer Shreyas Iyer played a spectacular inning against South Africa in the ongoing game of the ICC Men's ODI World Cup 2023 tournament. The right-handed batsman who came out to bat at No.4 ensured to tick the flow of runs alongside Virat Kohli, courtesy of a healthy partnership. 

Shreyas Iyer raises his bat after scoring a fifty.The duo added a 134-run stand for the third wicket before Shreyas Iyer was deceived by Lungi Ngidi in the penultimate ball of the 37th over. Talking about Shreyas Iyer's gameplay, he took time to get settled at the crease and once he got into the groove, there was no stopping him. 

He took singles, doubles and scored fours and sixes when it mattered the most. Iyer who scored a fifty in the previous game against England scored another fifty in the game against South Africa. During the 37th over, he smashed a boundary off Lungi Ngidi before the bowler made a comeback by keeping him in check in the next three balls.

Lungi Ngidi mounted pressure on him by bowling three consecutive dot balls before he bowled a slower ball. Shreyas Iyer tried to break the shackles by smashing the ball for a six but he ended up getting a connection with the toe end of his bat. Aiden Markram who was at the mid-wicket took a catch in his safe pair of hands. Shreyas Iyer departed after scoring 77 runs (7 fours and 2 sixes).
