Captain Kane Williamson will not play the T20I series against Bangladesh. The Kiwis will enter the field in the three-match T20I series without New Zealand's limited-overs captain. Pacer Kyle Jamieson is also unavailable for the series.

Rachin Ravindra and Jacob Duffy have got their place in the squad as replacements for Williamson and Jamieson. Williamson and Jamieson have been rested prior to the upcoming cricket schedule, the New Zealand Cricket Board said. Williamson will be out for a few more days to recover from a knee injury. Jamieson has been sidelined for several days with a hamstring injury.

New Zealand head coach Gary Stead said, “We want both Kane and Kyle to be in the best possible place leading into the next block of Test cricket against South Africa and Australia. Based on discussions with the medical staff and the players it was decided a period of rehabilitation and conditioning was the best option for both of them.”

“Jacob is an experienced T20 cricketer and always brings a lot when he is part of the BLACKCAPS environment. He’s worked very hard on his white ball skills in recent seasons.

“Rachin adds to any environment he’s a part of and has a great desire to learn and develop his game - across all three formats.” 

Mitchell Santner will lead the team in Williamson's absence. The three-match T20I series matches will be held on December 27, 29 and 31.
